Energy efficient design and construction, often referred to as green construction, offers owners the opportunity to reduce the operating cost of their buildings, provide for a healthy and comfortable work environment for employees while reducing the project’s impact on the environment during operation and while under construction. Over the past several years, one of the leading benchmarks of sustainable design and construction is LEED, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The USGBC or United States Green Building Council established a points system by which the sustainability of a project could be measured, validated and ultimately certified at one of four levels, Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum. R D Lambert has a LEED Accredited Professional on staff and has previous experience with design, construction and documentation of LEED projects for certification.
